• Container and trailer handling operators in ports, inland terminals and distribution centers
• Stevedoring, timber, paper, concrete and steel industries with heavy duty material handling applications
 
Kalmar is active in 140 countries around the world through 17 sales companies and with an expanding distribution network through dealers. Container handling customers are primarily served through the company’s own sales and service network, while the dealer network serves the large industrial and trailer handling market. Kalmar’s portfolio of products and services completely covers the needs of the container and trailer handling industry.

The market for services related to material handling equipment is considered as a business opportunity. These services account for about 20% of the net sales. Kalmar has succeeded in maintaining or increasing its market penetration across all product lines. Historically the leader in straddle carriers, terminal tractors, heavy lift trucks and reachstackers, Kalmar has succeeded in keeping its lead despite fierce competition.
